Rainoshek’s Daily Tips:

Have you been adding ginger to your Juice Feast? In your juices? As a fresh, hot ginger tea? After my teary afternoon yesterday, I made a HUGE pot of really strong ginger tea, with lemon and honey, got cozy in a hoodie and curled up with my new friend Anastasia, and got really warm and sweated it out. It created such a warm, soft glow in my chest, and I felt like I burned off a cold rather than an emotional low. Felt very cleansing. Here is what Phyllis Balch says about ginger in Prescription for Herbal Healing:

Ginger is the most widely available and widely used herbal remedy on the planet. Billions of people use ginger daily as a food and medicine (and as a juice!!)

For 2,500 years, ginger has played an important role in Asian medicine. It has traditionally been used to promote cleansing of the body through perspiration, to calm nausea, and to stimulate the appetite. In the Indian ayurvedic and Persian unani tibb systems of medicine, ginger is commonly used for the treatment of arthritis.

Ginger is an inexpensive, effective, and nearly universally available remedy for inflammation and pain. In China, ginger has been put to the novel use of helping to turn breech babies by giving the mother ginger teas before delivery.

Benefits of ginger for health conditions include the following;
Allergies and asthma, arthritis, bursitis, fibrocystic breasts, lymphedema, and pain, atherosclerosis and high cholesterol, cancer, indigestion, morning sickness, motion sickness, nausea, and vomiting, colds, influenza and strep throat, parasitic infection, and seizure disorders.

One of ginger’s best-known uses is quelling queasy stomach and nausea. Remember this if you are feeling nauseated on your Juice Feast! Have some ginger tea, or add ginger to your juice! My favorite way to make ginger tea is to boil some water, then steep some chopped ginger for 10-15 minutes, and then add lemon juice and honey to taste.

Personal Journal:

When we get out of the glass bottles of our ego,
and when we escape like squirrels turning in the
cages of our personality
and get into the forests again,
we shall shiver with cold and fright
but things will happen to us
so that we don’t know ourselves.

Cool, unlying life will rush in,
and passion will make our bodies taut with power,
we shall stamp our feet with new power
and old things will fall down,
we shall laugh, and institutions will curl up like
burnt paper.
~D.H. Lawrence

Oh the joys of a new day! The joys of ginger, causing The Great Sweat It Out!! I did over do it on the ginger in our GVJ this morning though, oh the burn!! That is the risk you run when you make all of your GVJ in one big batch as we do.

We had so much fun trying out the new juicers that are visiting our Juice Feasting kitchen right now. What a blessing to have access to such things and give them the full check over, see how they work, just how they can pump out the juice!! We were most impressed with the centrifugal juicer, the Breville Juice Fountain, and realized that we had been wasting a lot of citrus with our ancient Juiceman Juicer that bit the dust yesterday. Thank goodness it broke!! We were able to make the same amount of citrus juice with the Breville in about half the time, and got about 25% more juice out of the produce!! It is also much quieter. I don’t how the new model of the Juiceman compares, but I can say without a doubt, our compost pile will be drier now, and our oranges will go further!! (You have to be Juice Feasting to understand! LOL!)

We received an order from Healthforce Nutritionals today: some more Vitamineral Green, a bottle of Earth, Internal Parasite Formula (in preparation for Day 60!), and a bottle of Spirulina, YUM! We were also given a nice bag of GINGER by our dear friends who started Juice Feasting with us on the 1st, but after a week decided that now is not the time and so had lots of ginger left over for those of us who are carrying on with the Feast!! We say, a week is wonderful!!

Thank you to all who wrote with love today! I am absolutely amazed at how many of us women are on the same moon cycle in this Juice Feasting/blogging community! We must all be from the same planet or something.

After visiting with Anastasia, I had dreams of talking to carrots!!, and elephants!!, and the elephant was my friend and gave me a huge hug with her trunk, she smiled and laughed!! She said, "I am so glad you eat plants too!"

See you tomorrow,

With love,

David and Katrina Rainoshek

So glad to see your tips are up!
For the record, the produce talks to me all the time now... :) I've got the first book of Anastasia by my bedside - perhaps now is the time to dive in!
Sweet dreams.

I fell in love with juicing ginger the first time I tried it.

I love it more than any other flavoring agent for juicing.

Ginger is my hero.

It is settled. I will buy the Anastasia books. I keep hearing how delightful they are and what an impact they have had on the lives of the people I hold dear. Thank you for sharing about your joy of reading them. Also for sharing the ginger tea recipe. I had that yesterday for the first time and I am getting ready to enjoy another cup right now.

Happy Day 13!
